Speed Brakes by RDD
Discover the vertical dimension of flight...as developed for the certifed aircraft and soon available for experimental aircraft. RDD, in concert with Precise Flight, Inc., has developed Speed Brakes for the Van's RV10 series aircraft to go along with the previously developed Lancair speed brake systems.
The Speed Brakes kit is priced at $3,995 and has an installation time of about 15 hours. RDD's experience and committment to excellence coupled with Precise Flight's robust product line makes for a well supported and robust installation. Click here for more info on Speed Brakes.
Benefits
• Double your aircrafts' normal rate of descent without reducing power
• Maintain engine power and aircraft maneuvering speed without build- up in speed.
• Reduce engine shock cooling.
• Smooth turbulence and quickly slow to turbulent air penetration speeds.
• Deployable at or near Vne for an instantaneous reduction in speed. • Read what AOPA has to say (pdf)
Dynamics
• Double parasitic drag on the aircraft.
• Decrease lift.
• Minimize assymetric lift and drag reducing likleyhood of entering a spin.
• Increases wing loading and smooths the aircraft response to turbulence.
• Decreases lift allowing for better control in crosswinds and assists with braking.
Technical
• Installed wight: (9 lbs.)
• Average descent with SpeedBrakes deployed: (1500-1900 fpm)
• Average installation time: (35-40 hours)
• Electrically actuated (no cables, hydraulics or pullys).
• Asymmetric deployment protection.
• Power failure protection.
• Environmental protection.
• Lighted on/off switch indicating SpeedBrake deployment.
• SpeedBrakes stow flush with wing skin surface.
Illumin-X by RDD
Through joint development with Precise Flight, Inc. the first Illumin-X HID lighting product is now available for the Lancair Legacy. Illumin-X provides three times the output of halogen and 5 times the output of sealed beams. As Xenon lights they utilize the latest generation of ballast technology making them the lightest and quietest available.
Weighing less than a pound per light assembly, Illumin-X can be installed using a single landing light set up and can acommodate a full dual taxi/dual landing light arrangement - that's 4 lights with radiant HID technology!
RDD's experience and committment to excellence coupled with Precise Flight's established reputation. The Illumin-X HID is priced as low as $550 - an unbeatable price compared to similar kits on the market. RDD is proud to partner with Precise Flight. Precise Flight's experience with integrating lighting control systems with industry leaders such as Gulfstream, Cessna and Raytheon, allows us to bring the best HID Aviation Lighting to market. Benefits
• Increase Safety
• Increase Visibility
• 6X Brighter than Standard Lights
• 5000 Hour Bulb Life
• Reduce Heat & Power Consumption
• Only 35 Watts, Equivalent to 200
More light output:
A 35-Watt HID lamp produces up to 6x the lumens compared to a standard landing light bulb, making night landings much easier.
Whiter light:
While an incandescent or halogen light appears yellowish, HID lighting produces a light that is closer to that of natural sunlight.
Increased visibility:
In most nighttime or bad weather situations, the combination of a whiter color with a greater light output allows for a safer and more illuminated landing and taxi. In flight they will stand out for miles ahead of standard lights. HID Lights will allow you to see and be seen!
Reduced power consumption:
HID lamp systems draw significantly less power from your aircrafts electrical system.
Greater product life:
HID lamp systems are designed to virtually last the life of your aircraft. Due to the fact that they produce very little heat, draw only a percentage of the amperage and have such a long life, HID lights can be turned on when you start your plane and left on until you shut it off. This should be the last bulb you will have to change.
By selecting the "Buy Now" button you will be securing your Illumin-X order for $550 for a single light kit, notify RDD at sales@rddent.com if you would like a dual (landing and taxi) light kit. Illumin-X is currently only available for the Lancair Legacy aircraft with other models coming soon.
Electri-X by RDD
Vacuum pumps are the way to go if you’re building a Kirby or Hoover. However, if you’re embarking on the construction of one of our generation’s premier experimental aircraft, there is no place for ancient technology under the cowling. Modern aircraft with state-of-the-art cockpits have power demands that can best be met by reliable, efficient and safe redundant electrical systems. No one knows this better than RDD which is why we developed Electri-X.
Electri-X is an advanced electrical system specifically developed for the unique demands of the experimental aircraft builder. Electri-X consists of two independent systems that are redundant in every aspect. The critical difference between dual and redundant is that many aircraft with dual electrical systems generally have a lesser back-up electric system that cannot operate all standard systems. Electri-X redundancy means that both electrical systems are equal in form and function meaning that either system is fully capable of powering all standard equipment independently.
Electri-X by RDD offers a level of electrical power delivery redundancy usually only found on twin-engine or very high-end piston singles. Dual 60 amp alternators, dual 15 amp hour batteries, dual busses and dual wiring harnesses ensure that an electrical emergency will not force you to shed power, pull breakers, turn off critical standard systems or fly a partial panel in the event of an electrical emergency.
